From the Mind to the Heart

Uncategorized May 15, 2022
I was attending a training today on the science of "manifestation" and was intrigued by the scientific approach, of course. I shy away from most things with an overly esoteric language as it carries with it images of face painting, bonfires, and dreamcatchers.

I being a bit sarcastic here but to my point, there is much about our ancient cultural practices that are powerful tools when studied and employed correctly, which intrigues me, but I am careful to try and separate the weak representation of ancient wisdom from the real deep practice of old wisdom.

She discussed her father and grandfather and the issues they had with addiction, depression, and their hyper-analytical minds. Their minds were so busy, often so chaotic that they had to use drugs or alcohol to muffle the noise. They could solve complex puzzles, invent new ways of doing things, and see possibilities that others could not, but it was at a high cost. She was a gifted student and was in many advanced classes when she was young, but her mother refused when asked, to have her IQ tested. Her mother saw the challenges her husband and father-in-law faced due to their overly active intellect and wanted her daughter to learn to live through her heart and not just her head.

This of course did not diminish her intellectual ability, but it did temper it and give her a very profound way of looking at the world which was much more balanced and healthy. She went on to work with people around the world and found the right fusion of intellect and heart-centered work, blending the two worlds perfectly. What I liked about her message was that there was a necessity to have a good balance of practical knowledge that allowed the message to be more broadly understood and accepted, rather than if it was just high-level intellectual material or buried in esoteric language and rituals.

This has been a big part of my own self-study, allowing my more analytical mind to guide me to the edge of ideas and then slowly allowing a more heart-centered approach to fill in the blanks. I have learned to trust my mind for much of my life, it has saved me from my own darkness more than once and kept me searching for answers that would allow me to fill in the void that my early journey through life had created.

I think when I first began to put together the framework for what was to become the I AM Project, this process of integration of the mind and the heart was becoming a bit more clear to me. I begin to see where neuroscience, psychology, and spirituality could blend together perfectly, and it seemed that it was always meant to be that way. What became more apparent to me more than anything was the need for a true "spiritual practice", one that was set in a daily ritual where I embraced the study and practice of our ancient wisdom and teaching.

I have had the incredible privilege of sharing the I AM Project process with people around the world, showing them a simple but powerful spiritual practice that follows the same path our ancestors followed for thousands of years. What has become very clear to me in the past decade is that life will be much more manageable, predictable and joyful once you begin to implement your own daily spiritual practice...you need a path to follow.
